Re: What’s Going On With All This Page Read Activity??!
I have noticed it. Bots or web crawlers looking for something, or amassing data, or patrolling for incorrect speech. Up to no good. The Arpanet/Internet was supposed to be a robust communication platform, but it has now become a global superhighway for fraudsters and future tyrants. With no off-ramp...

Re: Stop Collars - the accessory I should have bought years ago
I understand why we would want to use stop collars in pairs - to prevent cocking of the table due to slop - of which a Shopsmith has plenty. So I also recently bought a few extra stop collars (PN 501439) from Shopsmith. They arrived yesterday. To my chagrin, these collars are missing setscrews. How ...

Re: anodizing aluminum
Anodized hub arrived, and installed. Anodized per MIL-A-8625 Type II Class 1.This is a clear anodize, and less thick than Type III "hard" anodize. I chose Type II because I did not want to risk using the thicker Type III and then have problems with thread and spline clearances. $125 from M...

Re: Shop Sweep with Cyclone
Thanks for posting the video. I did not know of this model. Looks like a higher-power version with the same front end nozzle. Still has that old bag, but at least it does have a real on-off switch. Still has that stupid kickstand and does not stand upright by itself. Neither model is still on the ma...

Re: Shop Sweep with Cyclone
I don't recall the vac ever having very good performance with the original bag. I also expected the vac would have improved CFM with the cyclone - as long as the transitions and hose length were minimized, which I tried to do. The CG is so off on this vac that it is unpleasant to use. Maybe relocate...

Shop Sweep with Cyclone
Since I do all my wood-cutting work on the driveway, my usual dust collection system is the great outdoors. Occasionally however, I need to clean up the driveway, garage and basement. I wanted a rugged, upright, wheeled vac for use on large outdoor ground areas such as garage and driveway. So for ye...

anodizing aluminum
My knowledge of washing-machine design has recently undergone an involuntary meteoric increase since the forced retirement of my 1969 Norge and its replacement by a used 2016 Speed Queen (yes this is a Shopsmith-related topic, hold on). The Speed Queen was filthy, but the brand is highly recommended...

Re: Trying out the flexible shaft on my 10er
I did not know Shopsmith ever sold a flex drive shaft. Some questions: Did you get any Shopsmith instructions with it? Who manufactured that shaft? Is there a provision for lube? Grease or oil? My experience with these type of shafts are that they are notoriously difficult to re-lubricate, can only ...

Re: 520/Pro Fence lock adjustments
Brenda recently https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?p=299309#p299309 advised using alcohol as a solvent for dry graphite. This allows the graphite to be applied as a liquid rather than as a dry dust. I avoided graphite powder lube because of the mess and application difficulty. Then I tried Br...

Re: Utility Table With Casters
I have improved my utility tables with two improvements. 1. Casters allow for table portability - table does not stand on the casters when in use. These casters are the "plug-in" type, not the bolt-on type. They have a 7/16" dia pin-stud instead of a threaded stud. This allows for eas...
