Concerning Drill Bits

Concerning Drill Bits: Thanks for the good help. I have a set of multipurpose Dewalt Bits which are pretty good, but in the larger sizes they jump from 3/8" to 1/2" with nothing in between. I'm worried, due to my lack of metal drilling experience, that taking the rear trunnion holes from 3...

I'm going to need a couple of additional drill bits to complete this operation. Who are the good drill bit manufactures, in this groups opinion?

Thanks, I'm glad i'll be able to use them. I am running carbon blocks, but I also have cool blocks that came with the saw.

Band Saw Blade Questions

When I bought my new to me Mark V 520 system it came with a bandsaw and about eight bandsaw blades among other goodies. Some of the bandsaw blades are new and still in their packaging, but some are out of their packaging and although they feel quite sharp they have some light to moderate surface rus...

For any one who may stumble across this thread. I did buy these videos and am glad I did. Quality isn't HD by any means, but the it's better than the online versions and it's very good information.

[quote="wa2crk"]Dusty] Is this what some of you were talking about earlier with regards to run out or is this something different. If so how do you check for this? Sorry to have so many questions, but questions are about all I have at this point. :) Hopefully is a couple of years I'll be a...

Aluminum is VERY easy to drill with the right speed. The rpm for aluminum with a twist bit is 600 divided by bit diameter. 1/2" bit would be 1200 rpm and 1/4" bit would be 2400 rpm, but if you are nervous you can use 750 rpm (slow setting WITHOUT the speed reducer). Do use some type of lu...

YES YES use your speed reducer. Use a twist drill bit for metal and START with the bit that is the same size as the existing hole. That way ya can get the hole lined up and clamped down. Then switch out the bit to the next size bit that's 1/64" larger. Till ya get to the final size of 1/2"...

Might you have been able to "move the outfeed side to the left"? Whenever I need to do a table alignment from scratch (all four trunnion bolts loose), I push the table in and to the left as far as it will move. I then tighten the pivot point bolt just firm enough to keep it from moving an...

Very good information on various alignment procedures. I do have a the SS Critical Alignments Video which is what I followed when I did my my alignments. The problem I felt I was encountering with the table to rotation axis alignment was that the in-feed side of the table would not move the extra se...
