Where did you get those tiny bits and pins? I have purchased a few small bits from stew mac but yours look different. Thanks. Hi Hahns, The pin is 1/32" music wire from a hobby shop. It's pressed into a hole drilled down the center of 10-32 brass screw, which then threads into the Shopsmith pl...

I have Micro Mark's Microlux table saw (made by Proxxon). The Microlux is identical to Proxxon's FKS/E, except for the fence. It's a wonderful little table saw. I made fun of it for years until I finally bought one! Micro Mark sells some interesting accessories for it. I use their Accurizer fence, w...

Why is the idler shaft bearing an exception which warrents a replacement shaft? I believe the idler shaft bearing is actually a water pump bearing assembly. Those bearings are manufactured as an integrated unit with the shaft. You can probably find a replacement if you search hard enough, though it...

I think the extensions were made to the bandsaw set further away from the head stock to clear the new larger aluminum table. Something else I never got. I love my cast iron table. Ed There's an interesting story about the aluminum table clearance problem that I ran across in this blog... http://sho...

I would like to know if hobbyists chuck in post #21 is solid or hollow. My Jacobs 3326 (apparently mid 50's vintage) is solid. This chuck will not close down far enough to chuck up a 1/16" drill bit. For drill bits less than 5/64", I like to use a Starrett Pin Vise (with the knurled pin vise handle cut off). These pin vises are designed for chucking, though the Shopsmith chuck bore is not deep enough to accommoda...

I installed a PowerTwist link belt on my Mark V last year and it has been working fine. Vibration and noise were definitely reduced, though not dramatically in my case. I used 35 links as Bill Mayo suggested in one of his posts -- thanks for the information Bill. The PowerTwist belts are fairly stif...

This is so very disappointing. The Sawdust sessions have just been getting better and better. The content was truly unique -- I've learned a lot from you guys. Good luck Nick and Drew! I hope you guys will continue teaching woodworking in a different venue. So much of the woodworking articles that I...
