Speed dial handle
Has anyone replaced the handle on the speed dial with one made of wood or something else light and strong? I have always thought it would make turning the dial easier to have a bigger handle. Would this be a waste of time or something worth doing? My dial is not particularly hard to turn and works o...

Re: Cross cut sled
Dusty, I said previously that I thought trying to do angles would create too much room for error. However, both SS and Rockler sleds have a movable fence for angles so It obviously can be done. How they do it and how it works re:accuracy I don't know. I am using a SS miter bar so there won't be any ...

If anyone is interested, you can find the manual for the SS cross cut sled (pdf download #845298) and the auxiliary table (pff#845309) on the main web site under manuals and information.

Re: Cross cut sled
Bought the plywood for the base today. Mail brought me a SS miter bar, Incra flip stop and a Rockler T Trak for the top of the fence. Ready to rock and roll and make sawdust tomorrow. Cold and rainy here. Not this old timers golf weather. The wife is in her quilt room making quilts and I will be in ...

Re: Cross cut sled
I think I am better off just leaving it at 90 deg. The more movable parts I have, the greater the chance for less accuracy down the line.

Cross cut sled
I am going to build a sled like the one Shopsmith sells. They mention it will easily set certain angles. How is this done? The only picture I can find of it shows nothing that would give a clue. The Rockler sled has a built in protractor scale and a moveable fence to do angles for example.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Shopsmith, Inc. Has A New Owner
In addition to my 520 Shopsmith, i have a 6" Grizzly joiner. I find that I hardly ever use it. Woodworker and Freud make "Glue line" saw blades which create wonderful, ready to glue edges. I have built several pieces of furniture for our home and would defy anyone to look at the joint...

Re: Setting Up a Small Woodworking Shop
If you do a Google search for "wood shop design", you will find several good books to guide you. A good place to start. Ditto info on dust control.

Re: Changing belt
The terminology I used was not clear I know. I did get the belt on it was just harder to walk it on the pulley than I remembered. I appreciate the help.

Re: Changing belt
I was referring to the top pulley, not the "gilmer" belt. It is confusing.
