Need to repair a crack
I'm making an end table from oak (5/4 red oak). One of the pieces I'm working with has a serious check at one end of the board. This un-milled stock that's been in my shed for 3 years. At the end of the board it's about 3-4 inches from an edge. It's about 15" long and runs almost to the edge. S...

Re: Lift Assist
Just a thanks for starting this thread and for those who provided info about possible issues. My sweet heart purchased one for me for our 50th anniversary. What a great feature. I was worried my under tool storage would be jazzed up but I have lost any space at all. Thanks!

Organic Wooden Gear Clock
I thought I'd share my latest project. This was designed by Clayton Boyer. I purchased the plans. It runs fine except that it losses time every day. I'm still fiddle farting around with it. Even with the time issue I think it's a handsome kinetic sculpture. It will look fine hung on the wall. This i...

Re: Small Shop Ideas
I have a pretty small shop, its something like 12 x 14, in the basement. One thing I do is store my stock in the garage so the shop that space isn't lost. It was easy to fashion a hanging unit off the joists and to store sheet goods alongside the car. Also when I do a larger assembly I use the famil...

Re: Small Shop Ideas
Watched 'The Queen's Gambit' and it inspired me to start with the chess boards. What do you think? Is it worth trying? As a lifelong chess player I cannot imagine, in my wildest dreams, anyone playing under the influence of valium, especially at that level. Just not real life. Years ago I traded in...
