back after a long time, with a question

After moving from WI to FL and going from a basement shop to finally building a shop on the ground with windows, I'm dropping back in to see what's going on and to ask a question. I see that Shopsmith has their website, but I can't tell if they really exist, because I've tried for 2 days to get in t...

Re: 10er speed changer question.

Before I get into the meat of this...is there a way to get rid of that annoying Shopsmith pop up asking for my name, address, etc? I decided not to wait and order some belts because I found some link belt in a box of parts. I made up the proper sizes & tried that set up. It works just fine and r...

Re: Mk5 motor is dead

Here's a pic of the motor. Not sure if I should save to screw with later or just junk it. Not sure if the pic shows up. I tried to upload it, but I can't see it.

Re: Mk5 motor is dead

Are you sure it's not a bad switch? Been through all this before. NOT a bad switch, cord, outlet, etc. I'm using the same switch on the changed in motor, same outlet, etc. All works fine. In fact, the failure occurred using a new switch (verified to work) that I had on hand. So definitely not a swi...

Re: Mk5 motor is dead

Well, after 2 days of running just fine, the same thing happened. One thing I failed to mention in my initial post that happened when the fail occurred. when I flipped the on switch, there was an ever so brief "bump"...don't know exactly how to describe it. It was as if the start impulse w...

10er speed changer question.

Finally getting all the equipment up & running after along hiatus and can't find the 10er speedchanger belts I packed away for a move. I can't seem to find a reference to the correct size belts. Does anyone know those sizes? Thanks

Re: Mk5 motor is dead

. . . I turned on the switch, and nothing. No spin, no hum, no apparent power. My first thought was look for the obvious. That the switch went bad, or the cord, or the outlet. I got out a spare plug/cord & bypassed the switch right the motor leads and still nothing. No hum , just dead. . . . Si...

Re: Mk5 motor is dead

Well, I took the motor out of the metal shroud so I could switch to my backup, and that gave me better access to the vent slots in the motor case, so I figured I've got nothing to lose by giving the motor one more really thorough blow out....and BINGO! Off it went. Running perfectly. A little surpri...
