610 Jigsaw Leaking Oil
I have an old model Shopsmith 610 Jigsaw (1983 vintage) that I believe is leaking oil from what appears the area around the bearing where the input power shaft is located. I know it is not the gasket on the cover plate leaking since I replaced it with new cork gasket material a week ago and no oil i...

Re: Wagner Safe-T-Planer to the rescue
I had wanted one of these for a long time to try it and when I came upon a good used Sawsmith it came with a Wagner Safe-T-Planer.
I need to read up more on its use.
Thanks for sharing!

Re: using furniture parts to make other projects (re-purposing)
I think the classic is Roy Underhill of the Woodwright's Shop. One magazine article told how Roy Underhill picked up an old wood bed frame out of the dumpster near his daughter's college dorm. Roy made his famous “Lathe from a Loft”. Truly re-purposing wood. https://www.popularwoodworking.com/woodwo...

Re: Can a 12" Planer w/o feed motor be converted to manual feed?
This is an interesting thread that even though it first started a few years ago, I did not see it before now. I just wondered since a feed replacement motor seems to be a "good chunk of change" to replace, has any one ever tried replacing it with a treadmill motor? There is another website...

Greenie - worth it? = sweat equity + parts$
Is it worth the investment of putting about $175 in parts an old Gilmer drive machine? I picked up a free rusted Greenie (the serial plate indicated 1956). It was an "outside" the barn find. The old GE motor spun freely so since the power cord had disintegrated into nothing I connected a g...

Re: Sawsmith RAS speed control question
Thanks very much for your suggestion.
That fixed the problem! The speed control works like it is supposed to work.
Next question, now what should I do with three working Sawsmith RAS 70000 models?

Sawsmith RAS speed control question
I have an old Sawsmith RAS model 700000.
The motor will run and speed control dial will turn but, nothing will happen in the way of the speed changing.
Any suggestions or ideas?
It is still too cold where my shop is to take it apart but next weeks weather looks better.
Thanks again!

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
In most of the reviews I have read, the Sawsmith 2000 is not a really good table saw. The reviews I read said it was not real accurate and under powered. Due to sliding feature of the saw carriage and also only a 1½ HP motor. Any other thoughts or rebuttals on this? Thanks!

Re: Electrolysis Effects on Aluminum ?
Probably right about the Evaporust. It is the carriage for the ''wheel castors bracket''. The Evaporust is probably the safer alternative. I looked online to see if there were any other thoughts about the "electrolysis effects on aluminum" but I could not find anything. Thanks again for yo...

Electrolysis Effects on Aluminum ?
I received a free Mark II that has some very rusted wheel carriages (the headstock quill was frozen and thus scrap). The whole carriage assembly will not move or rotate due to the extreme rust. I was think of putting the whole assembly in an electrolysis tank since I cannot remove the aluminum brack...
