depends on how deep and how large.....you can always hog away with a fostner bit and then go smaller and smaller.....then chip away with your chisels....

You might get some sagging in the middle of the shelves with the weight on them over time. IMHO, that is large span without support in the middle.

As to coming loose...don't forget that the wood you have chosen to use is a soft wood, and you'll most likely need to stop every now and then to make sure that it is still tight.

I hope that when you said to be used as a roller it is for shop use and not like a roller to be used in the kitchen.

Drop the levelling screws down and give the blade a whack with a wooden hammer. Or try raising the blade with the screws.

If this fails give the end of the wedge a sideways tap with a punch.

I would have been better to go to a big box store and spend a few bucks and got a brand new box with all the bells and whistles.....

For the cost now a days it sometimes does not pay to upgrade.
