Re: Today in the shop (the great unveiling)
SawOnStandWithFence.jpg Congratulations on getting a great saw! I am so jealous. Not so sure I like the idea of mounting it on the end of the SS but, hey, why not! Give you cred for thinking outside the box. And you certainly seem to have a small shop. I rather prefer to have my power miter saw (un...

Re: Epresennmuh Possible spammer????
Worse than spam - according to Malwarbytes the contents of those PM's contain malicious code. I've gotten 2 of them, I informed the web master but they are confused and think I am referring to the SS site at large. In any event, warn everyone - some is getting into the PM's and they are nasty stuff....

Re: Thinking of our old friend Bill Mayo
Bill Mayo also sticks in my mind. I never met him but he gave me a hand several times with Shopsmith questions - how to install and align blades in my jointer (still the best process I've seen on the subject), providing a few parts when a 'new to me' table got damaged in shipping, etc .... to name a...

Re: Machined washers as used on 505506 arbor
Sorry for the delay but both of my micrometers have gone missing. So here are the swag's: OD is 1-1/2", the ID is 5/8", the thickness of the rim is about 3/16", the rim itself is about 1/4" wide and the thickness from the ID to the inside edge of the rim is about 1/8" (i.e. ...

Re: Machined washers as used on 505506 arbor
Thanks for the replies. I did try searching the SS site but maybe fumble-fingered the number - tried again and there it is. Too expensive for me.

Machined washers as used on 505506 arbor
Been looking all over the web and the Shopsmith web sites for a source for the 'machined washers' used on, for example, the 5/8" molder/dado arbor (SS PN 505506). There are supposed to be two of them but my arbor only has one. The Shopsmith PN is 501451 but I can't find any source for them. Tru...

SS has Nova G3 chuck and accessories on sale!!
Shopsmith just sent out an email with the Nova G3 chuck plus SS adapter plus regular jaws plus pin jaws on sale. Pretty good price for an excellent chuck.

Re: Green or seasoned
I did think of another place where you would use green wood - in chair making (but only for certain parts).

Re: Another Dust Collection Quandary For the Experts
That part is good. But there is a rather steep drop in CFM (i.e. a rather large SP drop) with the Dust Deputy - it is (according to some emails I exchanged with Oneida) designed to work with flow rates from 50 to 150 CFM. But anything is better than nothing! But, a bit of encouraging news, Oneida ma...

Re: Another Dust Collection Quandary For the Experts
No solutions here but some thoughts and opinions. In any event, I recommend a two stage filter setup - with a cyclone on the front end, then the fan and then a high filtration bag on the fan outlet. From what I have read, a cyclone is superior to the 'trash can' collector. The overall size (CFM) of ...
