Fresh Cut Olivewood

SWMBO came into the garage the other day and announced the neighbors were cutting down the olive tree in the front yard. Walked over and ended up taking a full pickup bed load of branches, trunk and burl. This tree was over 30 years old and at the cut ends has some very interesting looking grain. Mo...

I attended the Costa Mesa, CA show with the DW back in October. It was her first time and my first in about three years. We were both sorely disappointed. IIRC, the show three years ago was more than twice the size. And I don't recall paying for parking last time; this go-around they wanted $10. Thi...

If you could post model information for your mouse that would help. (Gee, where have we heard that one before??:) ) If you installed standard AA batteries in that mouse DO NOT put it in the charger. The wireless mouse units I'm familiar with that have charging stations use rechargeable Li-Ion batter...

Although I know many do so, I don't personally use a drill chuck for turning. I remember from shop class way back that drill chucks are not designed for "side loading" or putting pressure on them from the side. You may want to look into getting a dedicated chuck for turning.

IMHO:)

Thanks for all the tips. The Ringmaster showed up yesterday everything intact. This was originally sold by Shopsmith when they were still carrying the Ringmaster. It looks to have never been used; the screws, Allen wrenches, etc. were all still in a plastic bag and the protective paper was still on ...

I think tying up the lathe with a three in one wheel would be more of an inconvenience. JMHO Agree 100%. Unfortunately I don't have the space for any other tools at this time. Someday, maybe I'll have a dedicated shop and not share space with the car, laundry, bikes, etc. I like the idea of a small...

Beall 3-on-the-Lathe Buffing System

Last week I ran across this post regarding the Beall Buffing System. The OP was looking for information on mounting the #2MT end on his SS. Thsi post is not almost 3 years old, but I had not seen any new information on the Beall system. There were some very creative solutions offered, some of which ...
