Re: THE MOTHER OF ALL WOODWORKING TOOLS!

I never would have imagined ramping down a SS would elicit a bold type response :)
Your point is well taken.

Re: THE MOTHER OF ALL WOODWORKING TOOLS!

Videos so far show the 520 in a good light. Some basic errors are evident i.e. not ramping the speed down etc. I sent him a note suggesting he check this Forum out.

Re: Sawsmith 2000

I just watched your video, nice work. Looking at your SS2K, you are indeed missing the locking mechanism for the slide feature. One would have to do quite a bit of work to get the locking assembly parts off the shaft. I suspect most of the parts are still present and that at some point, the plastic l...

Re: Sawsmith 2000

By locking the blade, are you referring to the actual blade or the sliding mechanism? There is no lock on the actual blade and it removes with wrenches like any other table saw. The slide mechanism is locked by rotating the large disc, on the same rod that pulls the blade forward. Here is a link to ...

Re: Sawsmith 2000 Value?

Bob, The SS2000 can be disassembled, but it's not as straight forward as a MarkV. The cabinet of the SS2000 is basically two boxes, made of sheet metal panels, held together by attachment to the vertical legs. Lots of nuts and bolts. Best way is just lay a blanket down, flip the saw upside down on th...

Re: Lawn Ornaments

Sign makers plywood is what is recommended for Lawn Ornaments. Its high quality exterior plywood faced with weatherproof paper and it's $$$$. It's also a little hard to find or requires a special order. Because of that, I've always mostly regular Exterior Plywood with well painted edges. If your lea...

Re: Sawsmith 2000

I am the second owner of a SS2000, I'm pretty happy with it. But, as Everett said, you must be aware you are buying an unsupported SS oddity. Mine had very light use when I purchased it and I've continued that. I use it mostly with the blade locked and only use the slider when it makes the cut easie...

Re: Over arm pin router?

If the motor in the arm runs well,150-200 is fair. You'll probably have to rework the table to match whatever plate you buy. It's worth making an offer.
The overarm router can do some really nice work.

Re: How Much Would You Say this is Worth

Just off hand, I'd say $600 sounds like an in the ball park asking price for what's pictured. If that has all the parts you're looking for in one spot and as you say they don't come up in your area often, go for it! I bought an old junk greeny for parts and sold off what I didn't need. It's a time c...
