I've not used a router table for box joints, but I can visualize that the flutes move in to the piece toward the backerboard on one side, and emerge out away from the backerboard on the other. An inherent disadvantage of a spinning bit versus a saw blade.

For what it is worth, ;) the original bearings in my 510 (bought new from SS) were stamped "Japan". See previous post for image.

Sometimes grease is applied to the shaft and bearing during assembly to aid in seating.
