Dont' sharpen with the velcro system

I believe there is warning not to use the velcro for sharpening. The heat generated will do damage to the hook-and-loops.

I've had the 24" extension for over 8 years and have never looked back. I love it!!!! It comes with a wooden removable stop block that is fully adjustable. The block has a 90 deg. face and a 45 deg face. I have one also. I have never figured out why one stop block face is 90 deg and one 45 deg...

Very Interesting

Ressurecting this thread because I ran into something interesting yesterday. I kept seeing patent art prints on ebay for shopsmith stuff and I knew that they had to be public domain. I went and took a peek, and there is a lot of interesting data out there. While looking, I ran into a 1957 patent fo...

Are any of the new abrasives compatible to the Shopsmith Belt Sander and Sanding Disks? I would guess that there won't be. These abrasives are advertised to last up to 4 times longer, while the green ceramic sanding accessories already available for the disk and belt sander are stated to last 5 to ...

Another Option

I have used adjustable hole cutters like this even on 2 x 4's (clamp the piece to the table, cut half-way then flip the piece over). I think the max speed indicated is 500 RPM, but I have not had any problems running on Slow. This option has lots of different diameters for future projects already bu...

Another FL unit

I am in Jupiter, about 20 miles North of West Palm Beach. I have a 1983 upgraded to a 510, with a belt sander. Though I really like it, I've never had much time to make dust--guess I chose the wrong careers. I get two months during the summer to do anything with woodworking. I'm glad I have the Shop...

Mark 7 Review

Sorry about asking this, but I have been gone for a while (probably for the better for the group :D ). Before I left, on one of the our forums there was a lot of traffic about one member getting an advanced Mark 7 unit that was offered over the phone by SS before the official announcement. There was...
