Re: Today in the shop (new project is in the planning stage)
There is an easy solution Ed that works great for adjustable partitions. Make two dados each longitudinally down the top and bottom. Use a 3/4 router bit and make the dado about 3/8” deep. Then cut some strips to fit in those slots very much like making runners for a sled. Cut them about 3” long. Dr...

Re: Home made segmented ring sanding jig
That’s actually a cool idea. Looks like something Woodpecker should make as one of their one time tools

Re: Home made segmented ring sanding jig
Here is one I have been using for a few years and it works very well. This one allows you to move the ring back and forth under the sanding disc while it is sanding. I also rotate each ring on the platter at least twice during sanding which tends to minimize any inconsistencies that can occur due to...

Re: A Bookshelf
No I don’t. I use a cut off shoe made of plywood and a worm drive skil saw. It’s rather old school but it works for me. If I had to buy one I would go for a festool. They are pricey but so far I am impressed with everything they make.

A Bookshelf
The boss has requested a bookcase for her office so I started gluing up the wood today. It will be 8 foot high and four feet wide. It will be in two parts with the base being 30” high and 18” deep and the upper 12” deep and 65” high. I am going to use Honduran mahogany with zebra wood accent. The lo...

Re: Best general purpose table saw blade for a newbie
I agree with the thin kerf blade for your SS. As far as brands go with any of the better quality brands. I am using Tenryu blades and am very happy with the results. As far as the arbor size you can order a blade from any major manufacturer and they will bore the larger arbor size for the SS. Also m...

Re: Home made dust cyclone dust collection system
I have found that the heavy duty Husky Contractor bags from HD work great on the HF dust collectors. A little trick that makes changing the bags very easy is to use three pieces of duct tape to hold the bag onto the collector while you put the ring on. Those bags also have ears on them that make tyi...

Re: Time to prepare for Xmas
I think I will let the Watco dry for a few days and then use glow juice on it to give a high gloss finish. The piece I used for the top turned out to be better than I anticipated. The grain pattern is exceptional. Poplar can be very different from one load to another. Sometimes it is very plain or g...

Perfect JPG That’s what I will tell them. Not sure who yet but that will be determined by powers greater than I.
