Scroll Saw Bushing puller - JPG inspired

Finally got tired of the lateral play on my scroll saw and reviewed JPGs great thread including replacing the bushings. Here is my variation of his shadetree puller: 3/8 carriage bolt with head ground to a bit under 5/8 3/8 hex nut with corners ground to just under 13/16 to align the bolt to the bus...

Re: Bandsaw Table Installation and Alignment

I believe there was also a change in the bandsaw itself. Didn't the earlier versions have the wheels aligned straight with each other? And, aren't the newer ones set up with the top wheel tilted a few degrees? Perhaps changes in the saw itself caused Shopsmith to suggest different setup. Unless I a...

It is very important if you use the band saw to cut tenons.
Yes.
And another example from Nick Engler's book "Using the Bandsaw"

Re: Bandsaw Table Installation and Alignment

I look at a bandsaw much like I look at a hand saw. The blade needs to cut perfectly perpendicular "side to side" . With a handsaw, that depends on the person holding the saw straight. You don't cut curves with a handsaw. The issue is when cutting curves in thicker materials, the walls ar...

Where? I don't find this.

Re: Easier bandsaw blade depth adjustment

Another option I considered was removing the tensioning spring then drilling/tapping for a nylon set screw.

Easier bandsaw blade depth adjustment

My hands are not as strong nor nimble as they once were and I find adjusting the forward/back of the blade guides a bit tough on the fingers. I've cleaned, de-burred, and lubricated it and it is still stubborn. Reading the forums it appears I'm not the only one. I had the idea to adapt them to accep...

Rediscovering my bandsaw -- and questions

It was a lot of work, but I was finally able to get my bandsaw wheels coplanar. Actually not, since I am aware the Shopsmith bandsaw is a different beast than the rest. But I'll bet I got your attention. :D I have a 1981 vintage steel table bandsaw and have made the following changes: - Replaced Squ...

Re: Zyliss Vise

Hmmmmm. Typewriter, slide rule, zylyss vise. Starting a museum? Yes how did you get that shiney finish. I have a small collection of typewriters ranging from about 1910 to the mid 60s that I have repaired and restored. I needed a counterweight on the little table so I grabbed one. Then keeping with...

I reuse them and empty into normal trash bags. Duct tape does a great job if dealing with any holes that occur up until the bag is complete toast.
