Re: New User Looking for a Tutor

Three books that will help you if you don't already have them are 1. The Owner's Manual - It will show you how to set it up to do the different functions and trouble shoot problems. 2. The Self-Study guide aka 10 Simple Lessons to Successful Woodworking - and it is just that. It will walk you throug...

Re: 10ER Speed Changer Tuning

I am happy to see the Speed Changer Chart getting downloaded. It's a reproduction I made so I could include it with my restored Model 10's when I sell them. Some of you may find this Speed Chart helpful. It is similar to the one for the Mark V but using the Model 10 pulley and speed changer speeds f...

Re: Bandsaw Spindle Alignment

If you do not have a manual go to the support section and online manuals. Scroll down to find the Band Saw Manual. It is the current one but most of the information on setup and use is the same. In it you will find the mounting and alignment page to walk you through it.

Re: Jointer cutter head hitting the table.

You are right about the base/out-feed table casting. They must have changed it. You didn't say when yours was made. My jointers are a 1979 Model 505681 which is upgraded and a Model 4E from the early 1950's. I have also restored an early 1954 Model 620 and an early 1960 Model 620-C. As you can see I...

Re: 10ER rebuild

I wanted to get back to you about the Jointer upgrades. The dust chute will not work on the Model 4E jointer. There are no mounting holes for it and due to the way it mounts on the Model 10's it would be in the way. The safety upgrades and feather guard will work if you wish to do them. As for dust ...

Re: Jigsaw Oil

Since I do not use my Jig Saw much I drain the oil between uses. I use the Scroll Saw more. Using RTV for the gasket could block the vent hole if you are not extremely careful. Don't get me wrong, the Jig Saw is still a great tool. Just one example, you can remove the arm and use it as a sabre saw f...

Re: Jointer cutter head hitting the table.

The blades likely need to be set properly. Looking at the pictures you posted I see the Base casting (out-feed table) is broken where the shaft of the cutter head comes out. It should be a hole for the shaft not a "V" cut. That may or may not effect the function of your Jointer. You did no...

Re: Shorty and Table Alignment

Babalaisi did you understand Beave2012 about SPT standing for Special Purpose Tool and what the means? To explain it further they are the Band Saw, Scroll Saw, Belt Sander, Strip Sander, Jointer and Planer that attach to the Mark V or other Mark series machine and are powered by the headstock. SPT's...
