Re: Gallery of Restorations

Actually there were four outlets all on the outside.I removed two and mounted the other two on the inside.I didn,t really see the need for four outlets.I ran the wire from the two boxes through one of the bench tubes.

Here, s my 1962 Brownie that my late father in law bought at a garage sale.It sat for years in an open shed until I couldn, t take it any more and decided to restore it.The way tubes were so rusty the head stock would not slide. The motor had been rewired wrong so it just hummed and tripped the break...

Re: brownie refurbish

Actually there were four outlets. One mounted on the outside of each leg.I removed two and mounted the other two on the inside on opposite ends.I used a short cord for the head stock that plugs into one plug. Then I Wired an 8ft. cord from the other box to be used for wall plug.

Re: brownie refurbish

Bought the paint from Shopsmith.Painted each piece as it was originally either copper or gold.Only two colors for a Brownie offered by Shopsmith.I added the pics to my original post.Sorry for the quality, best I can do.

Re: ao smith motor repair

Then evidently this motor had been rewired incorrectly previously.I see your point so I,ll connect the yellow start wire to the cap.Guess that,s why it wasn,t running properly when I tried to start it.

Re: ao smith motor repair

Thanks jpg for the info. Your wisdom on this forum is a very important tool for beginners.I value your opinion on the wiring issue but I have the blue wire with the capacitor wire still attached.Having said that I have decided to compromise and attach a cap. wire to both blue and yellow wires. At lea...
