Neither of these squares are thick enough.

I would like them to be 1" thick, so they can rest along the guide rail with the guide rail set at a 3/4" height.

I've attached a link to a very interesting youtube on making glue joints, thought folks here would find it interesting.

Re: Garage workshop improvements

John,

I will look into the keen/ecobee combination.

Thanks for the insight.

Re: Garage workshop improvements

Just throwing in my 2 cents. I live in Houston and do my woodworking in the garage. My garage is 550sq. ft. It has an insulated garage door and all but the long, 35' wall are insulated. I had a 2T mitsubishi mini-split system installed for about $5k. That includes $500 for the AC power disconnect fo...

Re: Shop cabinets - drawers vs doors/shelves

One more thing.

In your sketchup drawing it looks like your dados are 1/2 depth (3/8") of the panels, 1/3 depth (1/4") is sufficient.

Re: Shop cabinets - drawers vs doors/shelves

Be careful of how deep you make your drawers, you don't want to stack up stuff in drawers, you will forget you have stuff when you can't see it.

Re: Machine Height

Dusty,

I understand. I have nothing like that in my house or shop that I can use. The garage floor is not flat enough. And I need the storage space.

Re: Machine Height

I have already expressed my opinions on storage and height. Both are very personal decisions and I understand both especially "for me". As for twist in the tubes between the Base Arm Assembly and the Headrest, there will be none if you are careful when you assemble the unit - provided you...

Re: Machine Height

With the design you have can the headstock move all the way to the left without interference? Can't tell from the sketch but if it can't I would change it so it possible, there are plenty of reasons to have it way over there. From the drawing you are doing this for a 500 but if you have plans or th...

Re: Machine Height

Dusty,

I'll trust your measurements are correct. I haven't actually made the measurement myself except in rough terms.

I have three objectives 1. Storage, 2. I want to make sure there is no twist to the frame from the floor of my garage. and 3. reduce the height.
