Yes, exactly the info I was missing. That doesn't appear in the instructions I found on-line. Is that an on-line resource you pasted? Thanks.

Re: belt sander question
Thanks all, Yes to 20, 21, 22, 34, 35 & 36. 36--trunion lock / "silver disk with four holes in edge" (mine is silver, anyway) seems locked on 35, causing entire shaft/bolt assembly to spin when turned, will see about loosening that up. Yes, also asking about 76-77-77-78 which are missi...

belt sander question
Hi all, Had my belt sander apart yesterday to install the dust port upgrade. In putting it back together I saw that the wide silver disk with the four holes in its edges that holds the sander body on the trunion just spins the lock nut unless you reach inside and hold the nut or put a socket on it. ...

Oh, absolutely--Nick clearly has a lot of great knowledge to share. Just think it's funny to see him constantly looking for things. (Reminds me of me.)JPG wrote:I wish I had 1/10 as much knowledge as 'that guy'!

Re: Mark V DVD Collection
. . unfortunately the video quality is low . . Jiminy, you're not kidding. What is that, VGA quality?! Pretty spendy for that quality--seems like Shopsmith would be better served building the brand by making the videos freely available on-line. And what's with that guy? Why can't he ever find anyth...

Mark V DVD Collection
So, received my first Shopsmith marketing e-mail. I guess I belong now. :--) Apparently my life will not be complete without the official "Mark V DVD Collection", rather enthusiastically priced at $108 on special. Are these DVD's worthwhile for a SS newb, or is everything on there availabl...

Re: metal toggle switch--how old?
Actually got one of the micro-adjust gizmos in the box-o-parts with the used Shopsmith. Just need to figure out how to use it. :--)
Thanks

Re: quadrant assembly help
Update: So, I've achieved about a 50% improvement in smoothness / ease of speed adjustment by replacing the quadrant assembly, implementing much of Bill Mayo's advice, and additional generous oiling of the sheave shafts. Replaced the pin in the quadrant assembly with a plain old bolt temporarily whi...

Re: quadrant assembly help
Thanks all. I think (hope) my Mark V just suffered from inadequate lubrication and maybe careless speed adjustment. The seller proudly showed me the unfinished original 1989 can of official Shopsmith oil to show me that it didn't take much to lubricate. (If I had it to do again I would have passed o...
