Re: 510 Table Saw - looking for tips setting depth & fence width
If you really serious about indexing the table for depth of cut, consider marking the table legs. An index mark calibrated to depth of cut could be located right as the table leg enters the carriage. I do this (sorta) when I want to change depth of cut knowing that I will want to return to what I h...

Re: 510 Table Saw - looking for tips setting depth & fence width
I love combo squares so much that I own two of them. One is an inexpensive one I picked up decades ago and I have used and abused it for years. A few years ago, I picked up a Starrett one. Between the two, if I expect precision, I would lean towards the Starrett. It is not that I don't trust the in...

Re: 510 Table Saw - looking for tips setting depth & fence width
Thanks all for the participation and responses. As a new SS user, I am learning my tool and at the same time learning its pluses and limits. First, it seems illogical that the table height adjustment has no indexing marks. I agree with test cuts to check any setting prior to a cut on a project. Howe...

Re: Saw blade does not line up with guard
I adjusted screw to move the lower guard housing away from the head and it lines up, now. I find it odd that a standard blade does not line up with the guard. The lower guard is now partially on the retaining ring but feels secure. I will be cutting some cedar today and will see how it goes. I am ma...

510 Table Saw - looking for tips setting depth & fence width
I built out some 1 ft deep shelves in a 4.5 x 7 ft x 9 ft high garage space over the weekend and used my 510 extensively for the first time. I ran into two issues I would like tips about, accurate table height, and blade depth. I have a very good adjustable steel square with a level like this: https...

Saw blade does not line up with guard
When using the table saw and guard, the back of the guard behind the blade is offset about 1/4 inch, and causes stock being cut to catch on it. I cannot figure out how to align the blade and back of the guard. Any help? Also, when using one of my saw arbors, it threw the set screw into oblivion. I c...

New owner 2007 SS 510... and intro
Hello all. My name is Dan, I live in Portland Oregon, and I just purchased a pristine Model 510, 17 years old, it was owned by a commercial aviation pilot and looks new. I just moved it into my garage / shop and I am sorting it out. I have some shelf projects I need to start on, so I need to setup t...
