Re: Lower Saw Guard
Thanks David, yes, that is more like the system I would like to have, but prior to purchasing the lower and upper guards I currently have I did some research here and I believe the newer lower guards wont fit my Mark VII. At least not without modification. I am going to revisit this and do some more...

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..
Hi Mike, you already know my position, I would try to make the wheels fit rather than modify the frame, but with that said, I think your approach will work. Just be sure that when the wheel is in its lowest position it can completely spin around 360 degrees without hitting the inside of the shoe or ...

Re: Lower Saw Guard
Thanks Russ, I appreciate that. Took longer than that part was really worth, but I really need to use the table saw and dont like running it without the guard.

Re: Lower Saw Guard
Thanks for idea David, a picture of that riving knife would be nice. I think I have a fix for now, and I will find another on ebay sometime. This fix will get me by. It's very secure and working good. It broke in a very fortunate place for me. As Russ said, probably the weak spot in the casting. Rus...

Re: Lower Saw Guard
. . . The only Saw Blade Guard set for the Mark 5/V I know that you don't have to remove the Upper Saw Blade Guard to raise the table over the blade is the last one (P/N 505875) made for the Mark V 500 . . . Thanks Russ for the info. I didn't really think that through. I guess I meant to say I dont...

Re: Lower Saw Guard
I honestly dont know why it broke. Was tightening it as normal and heard a crack. Must have been a little misaligned or something? I think it hates me as much as I hate it. I wish the newer guards would fit my old Mark VII. Always hate having to remove the upper guard just to raise the table over th...

Interesting, one of my Mark VII's has individual feet, and one has a single continuous foot that ties both frame rails together. Sounds similar to what your shooting for.

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..
Very true. The original wheels have an offset of 3/8. Wouldn't suggest getting closer than that.

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..
Also, keep in mind, the closer the wheel axle is to the swivel rotation axis the stronger the wheel will be, and better able to support the added weight. It will also have less bending moment on the stem and less likely to crack the stem bushing (piston thing) which is already under designed in my o...
