Re: End Grain Mortising

Am I missing something here? I think the people recommending using the table saw are on the right track, but why put the rail on end? Just set the saw for a non through cut depth, put the rail against the rip fence (lengthwise, not vertically) and push it forward until you have the pocket you need. ...

Re: Mounting a Mark V on a Rolling Bench

Regardless of what height you choose, I think mounting a SS on a rolling cabinet would be a great idea. You preserve the mobility of the machine, add a lot of storage underneath it, and add mass to help with stability. You probably stiffen it up a bit, too, compared to the sheet metal legs.

Re: PowerPro 220v surge protector

Re: Electrical Advice

I am a big fan of soldered connections...but NOT for anything involving 120/240 VAC household wiring! There's a reason why you see all those wire nuts, clamp-on, screw-on, or plug-in connectors at your local hardware store in the electrical section. Soldered connections require great skill (and some...

Re: Greetings & pre-purchase question

In many cases, you won't need to disassemble the machine. A Shopsmith can be easily carried in a pickup bed, or in the back of a minivan. We've carried ours up and down stairs fully assembled (takes two people, of course.)

Re: Lawn Ornaments

Does that hold up, Hobbyman? Anything I make out of plywood doesn't last very long outdoors...the stuff delaminates.
