PowerPro Headstock Review, 2015
Since the main reason I got the PowerPro Upgrade was for the improvement in table saw performance that is what I will review first. I began with making some run out measurements on the spindle, saw arbor and finally at the edge of the saw blades. The new quill and main drive produced a round out err...

Re: PowerPro Upgrade, 2015
When I loosened the belts to 1/4" deflection the rattling did pretty much stop with no load. Still testing to see if I can live with the belts being that loose.

Re: PowerPro Upgrade, 2015
Sounds like your belts are grossly out of balance. I would first balance the belts per the procedure in the instruction manual. Re: PowerPro Upgrade, 2015
I know what you guys are saying. That is the reason I set my belts pretty tight but then I got the chatter in the Drive Sleeve and Quill assemblies that can't be adjusted out by balancing the belts. Has anyone experienced this? I am going to try running with looser belts and see what happens.

Re: PowerPro Upgrade, 2015
I got this Email in response to my service request: Customer Service Today at 5:03 AM To seh5@yahoo.com That has a lot to do with the tension on the belts. You need 1/4 " deflection on the belts and they need to be equal . On Wed, Jul 15, 2015 at 3:39 PM, <customerservice@shopsmith.com> wrote...

Re: PowerPro Upgrade, 2015
Update #1. I heard back from Shopsmith service and they thought I had the belt tension too tight causing the Drive Sleeve to chatter. They told me that both belts should show a 1/4" deflection and I had them set closer to 1/8". I loosened the motor belt and rebalanced the belt tensions. Th...

PowerPro Upgrade, 2015
There have been many posts over the last several years concerning the PowerPro but I would like to share my recent experience upgrading my 510 with the upgrade kit. This is a long post but I hope it will be of interest for those contemplating a DIY upgrade. My first Shopsmith purchase was for a used...
