It may or may not be contributing to your problem, but that does not appear to me to be a Shopsmith riving knife. Where did you get it? Yesterday I went into the shop and took the fence on and off about 50 times or so and checked alignment and it was perfect every single time. So I figured it must have been technique. I learned a similar trick from my dad years ago. Rather than putting the tape on the wood, I wrap the router bit bearing a couple of times and do my first pass. Take the tape off the bearing for the final pass.

When you tighten the fence to the front rail, do you first push it into firm contact with the rail? I think you may have solved my problem with that simple question. My old saw was a Ryobi BT3000 which registered alignment by pulling backwards before locking it down. It registered alignment on the ...
