I don’t think the arbor size is that important. It’s arguing Ford and Chevy stuff. The quality of the blade is what’s important. I have a mixture of 5/8, 1.0 and 1 1/4 blades and there really is no appreciable difference IMHO. Some blades just cut better than others.

Making progress. The upper has first coat dry and the lower is almost done. Hopefully finish it up tomorrow or Wed depending on when the 1/4” ply for the back panel arrives.

Anything wood set in a window is going to take a beating. Warpage is going to be an issue. You might consider gluing up the shelf and after surfacing laminate it to a piece of 3/4” plywood.
