Re: Home made dust cyclone dust collection system
Correct! I also think the only stuff actually made from duck is the Duck brand. I may have been misled on this.

Home made segmented ring sanding jig
Hello all, I have had some trouble losing fingertips and knuckles when sanding my segmented rings. The idea came to me in the night to make a jig and use the Shopsmith drill press function to sand the rings. It took some thinking to avoid weaponizing the segmented rings but it did end up working wel...

Re: Home made dust cyclone dust collection system
I have found that the heavy duty Husky Contractor bags from HD work great on the HF dust collectors. A little trick that makes changing the bags very easy is to use three pieces of duct tape to hold the bag onto the collector while you put the ring on. Those bags also have ears on them that make ty...

Re: General Dust Collection Discussion
It does OK but my expectations for longevity are very low. I have a metal can ready to go for replacement but would prefer to use a 50 gallon drum. Luckily, its a short trip to the burn pile..

Re: General Dust Collection Discussion
I think it's a compliment. Better than making enemies. I'm going to try to make one once I get everything to the final location.
But was impressed with the success. Not all of my redneck engineering works.

Re: Sawsmith 2000
I have achieved redneck repair status. I'll post a video later this evening but here's a pic. It looks like the part sheared off but I was able to Fashion something to work. Luckily all the parts needed we're in the garage as can be seen from the picture LOL.

Re: General Dust Collection Discussion
Hello, I recently made a video on a trash can cyclone that I red-neck engineered utilizing the Harbor Freight dust collector and it works wonders. https://youtu.be/KSSzVc63JWo I would prefer a little stronger of a trash can and now that the proof of concept has worked, Ill likely transition to a qui...

Home made dust cyclone dust collection system
Hello, I am very new to woodworking and my Shopsmith dust collector dies a noble death. I decided to go the Harbor freight route and built a trash can dust collection cyclone for simple(ish) chip disposal for about $250. I made a video on the testing and configuration that is below: https://youtu.be...

Re: Sawsmith 2000
Thank you sir, shown in use around 8:15 on in my cutting board video, https://youtu.be/y7HY-zFd2ks There are two shopsmiths in my shop, every part and add on, zero instructions... I had both tool rests explode on me trying to use the lathe, so "upgraded" Great for a sanding station and the...

Re: Sawsmith 2000
Hello, I picked up a ss 2000 at a yard sale for 50 dollars and can't seem to figure out how to lock the blade. Any tips you can give would be very helpful. Spuntwood@gmail.com I am the second owner of a SS2000, I'm pretty happy with it. But, as Everett said, you must be aware you are buying an unsup...
