Re: 10ER Speed changer motor offset?
Warren, Was the information above helpful to your problem or am I understanding your problem incorrectly? The Motor should move enough to center the belt between the Way Tubes going to the Drive Sleeve Pulley on the Headstock. The Headstock Pulley should move on the Drive Sleeve Assembly's Shaft tow...

Re: I got a new to me mark
The cover I previously posted is showing the 1973 Owner's Manual which is only 22 pages including the covers. It does not include the parts lists or diagrams. Getting a more current Mark V 500 Manual would give you a lot more information. Even though your Mark 5 was made in 1975 it would be almost i...

Re: 10ER Speed changer motor offset?
Warren, Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. It sounds like you have been looking here for sometime and have now joined. You have me puzzled by the statement, The previous (original!) owner of this piece never offset the motor. I am not sure what you mean by "offset the motor." As JPG said pict...

Re: Quill coupler broken - where to source new part?
danielsegge, As JPG and David have already stated it does take some heavy pressure to get the Drive & Ring on the end of the Drive Sleeve Assembly. If you look at the first picture from my post on April 20th you can see the slight chamfer David is talking about that should help spread the Ring o...

Re: I got a new to me mark
The Owner's Manual cover for your Mark 5 should look very similar to the 1973 cover shown below. _ 1973 Mark V manual cover.jpg . The Self Study Guide has 10 chapters. Another common book found with the Shopsmith Tools is titled " Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone " by R. J. DeCristoforo...

Re: Double tilt upgrade
Hami5297, As you can see JPG was referring to changing just the Bench Tubes from the original 1-7/8" diameter to the 1-3/4" diameter tubes but still using the original Bench Ends (Base/Arm and Headrest ends). Since you are changing to the Double Tilt Bench Ends, which cannot use the old 1-...

Re: I got a new to me mark
youngstev, Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. Thank you for adding the pictures. They are a great help in describing things. Shopsmith Mark 5 serial number SS 9405 would have likely been made in 1975. There are no records from that time period, so it is an estimate I have made. Hopefully included in th...

Re: Double tilt upgrade
Hami5297, First off, welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. Below is the information given on the Double Tilt Upgrade online catalog page. Note: For MARK V 520, 510, 505 / MARK 4 Only -- The MARK V 500 does not have interchangeable table support tubes. Note: Older MARK V 500 machines (produced before 1972)...

Re: Quill coupler broken - where to source new part?
David you are correct. The one in yesterday's post is, I believe an older version. The one on a Drive Sleeve Assembly below is like the one you show. _ Drive Sleeve Assembly - Poly V with Drive and Ring.jpg . I believe I have a spare like the one shown above I bought from Shopsmith not too long ago....

Re: Quill coupler broken - where to source new part?
The Drive & Ring Assembly attaches to the end of the Drive Sleeve Assembly and is the plastic drive part with a metal ring inside. That metal ring holds the drive on the splined end of the Drive Sleeve Assembly by "snapping" into the indents in the splines. You can see those indents on...
