I received both versions of the miter set for my b'day. Have not had much of a chance to use them yet.
It did show me that my miter gauge was not set 90 degrees though. That explains the crooked cut at my bandsaw.
Corrected that at least.

Looks good!
You can flatten the bottom using hand planes or sanding. The 12 inch sanding disc does wonders at this as is flat.
Remember in the future to leave enough of a foot for leveling. A wobbly bowl does not present as nicely.

If you don't have a moisture meter, you can also use a scale. put the first turned green bowl in a paper bag with some of the shavings and weigh it. then weigh it once a month. Make sure the blade is clean, that newer wood could have gunked it up.

If the tools are sharp and the cut is correct, you shouldn't be making dust (until the sanding phase ). You should be making shavings and peelings, even in dry wood.
