Feskita Setup
My Feskita or Maktool setup: :D https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2909/33697488612_966e4b7a10_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2854/33040058563_82708bf1d4_b.jpg Very nice setup, cuts cleanly and smoothly and really allows for very wide crosscuts and long rips on very big pieces. Some say you can prod...

Re: I'm so confused: Shopsmith Planer Knife Sharpener
I am going to play devil's advocate, but why not throw a thin strip of shim underneath the base of the blade to have the edge jut out enough for a light sharpening? Any reason why sharpening just a hair under that 11/16" would be highly dangerous? I imagine that number may have been formulated ...

Re: Behold! The De-rustification powers of Evaporust and NJ!
Great stuff. I have used it before. A good thing about it is the solution can be reused several times. It also doesn't bother most paints if they have a good grip! True, evaporust is really great stuff. With kids, I am always a bit worried with using anything caustic like strong bases/lyes, acids a...

Re: Pinch me I must be dreaming
Well, at least you know you have a good plan in place for when you do hit it big!
I was getting very excited for you, the new shop and machines!
Cheers,

Behold! The De-rustification powers of Evaporust and NJ!
Hey All, Since I've been refurbishing a neglected shopsmith, I've been doing quite a bit of rust removal on various surfaces. I have come to greatly appreciate Evaporust given its non-caustic removal of rust via chelation chemistry and also Naval Jelly which gives a nice thick coat of phosphoric aci...

Re: Garage door insulation
Pay some one to do it Ed. Save your back. The few extra hundred dollars will be worth it to not throw out your back or exacerbate your back pain issues.

Re: Garage door insulation
You do know you will change the weight of the door. This may require you to tighten the lift springs. In my case I added a reinforcing bar so I had to replace my springs. Have an opener but I can lift the door with one hand with the lifter disconnected. Ed, are you talking to me? The foam insulatio...

Thanks Ed and dusty for the link and the picture. I imagine I will just use my trusty square to find the proper angle knowing it will likely vary between 3-4 degrees. I will take that into account Dusty. I will dimensionalize with TS and jointer and finish highly figured woods with the conical sandi...

Thanks RC plane guy!rcplaneguy wrote:3 degrees tilt gets me to square when sanding wood, using the table (vernier?) scale and a square to verify. When sharpening blades with the sharpening jig: the instructions say to leave the table flat, no tilt. 150 grit for sharpening works great, no honing.
