Oh, it's simple enough to flatten with router sled, hand planes, etc, but I want to save shaving off almost 1.5-2 feet of board twist.

Cheers,

Re: Twisted Slab... what to do?

How about using the twisted end for a "waterfall" leg? That should let you make some adjustments to it. IMG_0767.JPG That's an interesting idea there Dennis. It might shave off too much length to achieve the height I want for the table. I was planning on using it for a behind the couch fu...

Re: Garage door insulation

Having used both SilveRboard and the foam garage door kits. I would choose SilveRboard if you don't mind the bright aluminum faces and the blatant advertising. :). I found it far easier to cut cleanly with far less flying foam kernels and the slightly improved R and added radiant heat reflection is ...

A couple of new toys. Conical Sanding disc and other...

Finally broke down and purchased a few things I had been looking at from the mothership. Of course, some are backordered like the 3" caster upgrade and planer/jointer knife sharpener. However, they sent the conical sanding disc and the quick index quill handle ahead so I wouldn't have to wait l...

Twisted Slab... what to do?

Hey Fellas, I just got some nice slabs in for various projects for furniture tables around my house. I have a nice piece of curly maple, a fairly large slab of sycamore with some edge spalting with cool "snake skin" texture, and a spalted sycamore slab that is somewhat twisted. Both the la...

Re: Upgrade to 510 Table System

Haha, of course another way is to get the whole kit and kaboodle. There are definitely people selling old 510 systems that don't know their real worth who are definitely selling them for very good prices. :) Very tempting indeed. I would probably purchase the whole system and then you'd have the ori...

Re: Shopsmith at Woodcraft

Great to hear the surgery went smoothly other than the extra time to complete it successfully. Usually you won't see any improvements in heart function for many months as your cardiologist mentioned. Just to manage expectations, there may be no increase in function either and I hope they mentioned t...

Remember that you really want a complete set as you can be assured that the table syst...

Re: What affects getting a square crosscut with the miter gauge

How does one go about beating a poltergeist horse? :)

Thanks for the re-share Everett! Looks simple enough. Looks like the manufacturer's also did not trust the outside edges of the mark V 500 table as reference surfaces for square.

Cheers,
John
