Thanks!

Bill, good to talk w/ you today, as always. I think I get your meaning as to where to measure.

Mike, Thanks for the pic and the measurements. Looks like all I need to do is to make my print of that to the dimensions you gave me & trace to a piece of plastic.

I misspoke

In my description of the measurement, I meant to say from the bevel side of knife straight down to the cutter head.

Planer knife setting (I originally put this in the wrong place, oops)

I'm just finishing up a complete re-do of a Shopsmith thickness planer and, after a loose assembly of the cutter head, I'm ready to set the knife height but I did not get a setting gauge with the planer. and I've watched sawdust Session #20 showing the alternate method. I have a dial gauge but would...

If time is an issue, my I bolt/angle iron setup probably only took about an hour or so to put together. There's not much to it.

Those brackets are shopsmith parts. They are called "extension table brackets" part number 555997.

Mine were a little cheaper, though.

510 outfeed table

I've had an extra 510 table without the trunnion laying around for a while & decided to make an outfeed table with it. I drew up a lot of configurations in my head to make it workable. I wanted to allow me to use the regular rip fence without modification, and I finally came up with a really sim...

Every keyless chuck I've ever used seems to slip under all but the lightest drilling procedures. I've got a pretty strong grip, but nothing like what a keyed chuck system offers. I seem to have as much success by putting a 1" rubber "ring" cut out of a lightweight bike inner tube arou...

Another source

I've been using Rustoleum #7219 Verde Green hammered enamel. It's pretty much a dead on match & the hammered look looks, to me, better than just regular green metallic. I get it at Menards for somewhere around 7-8 bucks a can. You can probably see it on their website. I've also seen it at Ace Ha...
