While navigating the forums today, I was greeted with multiple pop-up ads inviting me to register for more information about Shopsmith products. Very annoying!

Re: Paddle Switch
The reason for a "metal" junction box is to contain any 'fire' that may occur. Normally the combustibles within a box are limited to the insulation. Junction boxes contain splices typically. A box for a 'device' has the same need to contain fire and may contain splices as well. A matter o...

Re: Social Security just made life Tuffer
They must have rethought that policy because I just logged into my social security account yesterday with only my username and password. No text pin was required. I just got an email from SSA saying that they're not requiring the text message authentication, just "strongly recommending" i...

Re: Nova 9019
Good news, Ed. Thanks for the detailed post. FYI, Oneway makes a 1/2 in. steb center for use on the Shopsmith without a chuck. I don't own one, though, so I can't provide more info.

Re: Wirless Internet connection
One of the conditions of opening up the radio spectrum for commercial and public use by the FCC is that all radios must auto-detect military radio equipment using adjacent frequencies and shut down for a certain period of time until the military use completes. This is the first time I've heard of an...

Re: More crazy talk
I would like to see what you're spinning with your old trolling motor. Is it a disk sander? What woodworking problem did you solve with this most creative use of what you had at hand? Like most people who turn on their Shopsmiths, I often want a slower speed -- for sanding or applying finishes -- a...

Re: More crazy talk
Here's the "outboard" setup I use for sanding, finishing and other slow speed work. Reversible, too. It's a small 12v motor, so it's not up to the task of full-time duty.

Re: Pen Turning
I have the Shopsmith live tailstock center. Will that work with the Penn State mandrel? Yes, but I recommend the mandrel saver, especially for someone just starting out. Also, the bushings for the kit you plan to make and a barrel trimmer will be a big help in getting a good fit between the barrel ...
