RBI Hawk 226vs vs shopsmith mounted scroll saw opinions
So I have done my fair share of scroll sawing and want to move off the mark v powered version eventually. I like my shopsmith version except for the noise. I ran my dad's shopsmith free standing scroll saw and wow that would be perfect. (For it for him as a gift and now I'm jealous, lol). Anyways, I...

Re: Online ordering broken and not secure
I just tried it again and seems to no longer bring up your info. At least they seem to have fixed it.
Still think I'll use the phone to call in orders now...

Online ordering broken and not secure
Just wanted to let you know not to use the online ordering. When I check out it auto fills in the form with the last order info. So to Thunder*** William Try** at 15 Chappellridge ** (not going to give all the info here) with phone ending in 3716. I called SS to let them know, but all I got was the ...

Re: Question on wood movement
Because the frame is placed inside the cross is where I worry. The movement of the purple heart on the frameChrisNeilan wrote:Wood will move, but the miters are mainly end grain, which moves a whole lot less. Maybe a mini spline? Glue them up and move on. Nice looking project by the way!

Question on wood movement
I am working on my new project and am contemplating if I should account for wood movement. It's a cross that has boards only 4.5" wide, but I have inlaid an interior boarder by about 1/4" and extends out the top by about 1/4". However they connect by mitered corners. Is made of purple...

Re: Convince me to buy a Shopsmith (in 2 years)
Will you have little space when you get back? Have you used a Shopsmith before or just have pieces that never were put together? It's a big investment that will be useful by far. If it's the best option is another question. I doubt you will regret it if you understand what shopsmith is. However if y...

Re: Are Shopsmiths for the affluent?
I'm not affluent by far, but I have had many in my shop. I'm currently down to just two 520s. However, I do put more money into my hobby than I do a car, or boat, or *name other items*. I saved for my Sawstop and worked hard for my 520s. That being said, I'm not poor, but definitely not rich. My wif...

Re: Forrest Blade Sharpening Service
I'm confused, are you just relating SS to forrest woodworking or is there some business connection in missing. Also I picked up 2 forrest woodworking 2 blades (standard and thin kerf) and was considering sending them in for sharpening since I got them second hand. Do you the factory service is worth...

That is exactly what I have been thinking but unable to articulate. Well done sir.masonsailor2 wrote:To produce joints that are at a very high level hand fitting is usually required. I think that is where woodworking becomes an art form and leaves the craft level behind.

Re: Accuracy & Precision in Woodworking
I will say this, the idea behind precision is relative as stated in the article. Some may go for perfection and will never achieve, others go for practicality and may have gaps or worse. No matter what you strive for the project should give you your tolerances. A waterproof box needs very tight tole...
