I am refurbishing an old Magna belt sander. After a good maintenance checkout and cleanup, I found the idler roller tensioning mechanism doesn't seem to be working properly. It doesn't want to lock into place and stay there with tension on the belt. I have ordered the owner's manual but was wondering if anyone has any advice who has worked on a problem like this with their belt sander.
I may have to replace the whole idler roller assembly, but hopefully I can figure out how to fix this one. I plan on talking to customer service about this tomorrow. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Belt Sander Repairs
John;
Did you view the Sawdust Session on Belt Sander Repair. Nick did a complete tear down and rebuild.
If I recall properly, he discussed what sounds to me like your specific problem.

Oops! I forgot about this Sawdust Session since I didn't have the belt sander at the time it came out. This was an excellent tutorial. Thanks for the reminders. Now I can disassemble for the third time and hopefully it will work after lubing the idler roller bearings. Hopefully I can save the $100.00 for an idler roller assy for some other cool SS stuff.
The help on this forum never ceases to amaze me. Thanks again.
