Wood veneer replacing malleable metal

Post by nuhobby »

Hi,

Lately I looked through a rusty tool-box inherited from my grandfather. There was a very old pocket-knife almost totally blackened with corrosion. I got it decently cleaned up and popped the metal sides off of it.

Taking a cue from the wood-turner magazines, I used some CA glue to bond, stabilize and finish wood veneer pieces onto the knife. It will be nice for a sentimental attachment.

Beautiful work, Chris! Your Grandfather would be proud! Now, don't lose it! Maybe even a nice little wooden box for it will be made soon?
