Re: Toy Making
I like, no sharp edges, shape conducive to sanding drums and a laminated racing stripe.

A new version of the Toy Play Pal Monster Truck. I Like this one best of all the ones I have made. Made from laminated oak and poplar and finished with clear shellac.

Re: Toy Making
My grandson likes wooden toys. He has always had them so it might be environmental. His current favorite toy is wood blocks. He had a bunch of cut offs pieces that he played with some and a batch of small blocks I had made for hum. About a week ago he was trying to build something out of them and didn't have enough. He gave me marching orders. Papa go to the garage and make more big blocks. So I did. I cut and sanded three 2x4s into blocks. Now I know why they cost so much. I must have taken me 10 hours to make them. He was thrilled. He especially liked the squares that had the centers drilled out.
Just my limited experience but it seems to me that the adults are pushing the electronic gadgets at them.

Re: Toy Making
I really like these little trucks. They are tough, small enough for little hands, and they roll great. A good carpet toy. Most small push/pull toys don't work to well. The wheels are to small and they don't have enough ground clearance. The more they are used the better they work. I made the first of these 2015-09-15 I was playing with them with my grandson this morning.
