When the PowerPro is assembled, is this really what it looks like or is there some sort of cover (heat trap) over the circuit board?

The power supply has a cover. I also believe that it has a anti tamper seal as well.

So what I think I am seeing here is the Motor, the Power Supply (less cover) the Lower Pulley and a limited view of the back side of the Control Panel. Is that correct?

Yes
I tried to take a good picture of it but with a complete headstock (no cut-a-way) there is to much in the way to really see what is there behind the belts and frame.
