shopsmith 20 inch scroll saw

Post by Hobbyman2 »

Found a 20 inch scroll saw on its own stand ,its quite a drive from me ,it doesn't appear to be on a power station but it is on what looks to be a SS stand , can any one tell me anything about them ? were they sold this way ? any buying tips if I decide to purchase it? what belts would it have ? a round neoprene belt ? parts that wear out ?

Thanks

There have been four models of the scroll saw, gray Shopsmith mounted and gray on its own stand (sounds like the one you are considering). They were replaced by the current teal models, Shopsmith mounted (still available) and standalone (now discontinued). The newer teal model is very similar to the older gray models but some of the parts were re engineered and won't fit the older ones without some modification.
