Planer question
Did Shopsmith ever make a 16" planer? There is an upcoming local auction near here that claims to have one to sell.
Re: Planer question
I don't think so. I have never heard of one.

I also have never heard of one but I have not followed the history of Shopsmith closely.
Maybe whoever listed it on the sale bill just didn't know what it was exactly.

I bet that is the case. You see it frequently on eBay.garys wrote:I also have never heard of one but I have not followed the history of Shopsmith closely.

Re: Planer question
Both Magna and Yuba made tools and equipment besides Shopsmith. Maybe someone assumed since it was made by one of those manufacturers that it was a part of the Shopsmith line of equipment.jsburger wrote:I bet that is the case. Re: Planer question
Shopsmith Inc. was the first of the Shopsmith tool makers to come out with the Mark V Mounted Planer in 1982 and the stand alone Pro Planer in 1985. I have not seen any other planers related to any of the makers of the Shopsmith tools. The Magna line tools in the 50's did not include a Planer.

Re: Planer question
I seem to recall that shopsmith sold a 10" to 12"?? lunch box planner in their catalog for a while. Something they purchased rather then made.
If I had easy access to my catalog collection I'd take a look but so much for that being even reasonable easy to do.
For a while they had a selection of tools that they sold that was not part of the product line. They had a little x-y table fixture that I wish I had purchased as it went away to never be seen again.
