Time to go Trucking again

Post by masonsailor2 »

Grandson number two is now starting to toddle so time for a new toy truck and set of blocks ! I used the Shaper Origin to cut out the wheels. Mostly it’s a great way to use up a lot of small pieces, especially for making the blocks.

Today I did some sanding on the truck and then started on making the blocks to go in the bed of the truck. It takes 48 of them. I managed to use up all the end cuts left over from the carriage door project. I will use the shaper origin to engrave the letters and numbers into the blocks.

Today was a long day of routering and sanding all the blocks. I made the truck bed for this one a little bigger than the last and the number of blocks turned out to be 72.

You have a very lucky grandson! :)

It looks like the SO is doing a real nice job on the blocks. I shudder to think how long that would take to do with my overarm pin router — especially making the templates.

On second thought, I could 3D print the templates. That wouldn’t be bad at all.

I still remember being given a present by my Dad’s business partner, when I was about 3 years old. A handmade wooden toy train. It was one of my favorite toys ever.

One step closer today. Finished the signs and got them glued on.
