Starting with a restore on a 10e

Hello, my father recently acquired a shopsmith 10e and we are wanting to restore it. The majority of the parts are seized up, except for the pulley systems and some other smaller parts. I believe the majority of the original accessories are with it along with the mounted jointer. Where should we begin on the restore? Where are the best places to find parts? Thanks!

Ron has given you some good links to get you started. Check the parts lists/diagrams in the manual against what you have. Use the 10E manual not the 10ER manual from the link if you do not have a manual with it. There were a lot of changes made to the Model 10's during their production so it is important to get the correct parts if any are needed. Patience in getting rusted parts separated is important, DO NOT try to force them apart which may break them. Remember your tool is about 70 years old now. Posting pictures will help a lot in describing your questions plus we like to see how things are going. I have restored 6 Model 10E's and another 13 10ER's. What may look like a hopeless pile of metal can be brought back to life. There are parts found at times that cannot be saved and must be replaced so care must be taken during restoration not to cause avoidable damage.

Yes, that is a homemade lathe tool arm and rest. It did come with its original arm and rest also which is shown in the restored photo.
