Thanks for all the photos. Do you know whether the Excalibur Fence a PO's mod or did it come from Shopsmith with one?

Beautiful.

This is another one of those discontinued Shopsmith items that I would have thought sold like crazy. Looks like a sweet table saw.

If I had seen one when they were new I certainly would have purchased it.

Fence models...

Post by henecle »

The Sawsmith 2000 was produced in four models; Standard model (555530) and Pro model (555593) came with a 510-like fence and rail system with one or two extension tables. The Deluxe model (555580) and Ultra model (555598) came from Shopsmith with the Excalibur fence and rail system. I don't know the length of the rails on the Deluxe model (shorter version with only one extension table) but the sets I have for the Ultra model are 78" long to support two extension tables and telescoping legs. Excalibur fence model is TT45.

Very nice looking saw. Those brackets on the support legs look like they are on backwards.

The support leg brackets actually have a tab on them that inserts into the channel end of each rail and are secured by a set screw that is hidden under the extension table. This closes off the end of each rail using the same channel that the extension tables and mounting hardware are installed into.

I think this end is what he was referring to.

Typically the larger half is mounted to the post. That would shorten the space used.

Maybe, they're in the PO's configuration, haven't messed with them... possible that there's another way. Don't need the space in the new shop either way. ;)
