That is the screen from the end around the idler shaft I believe. If you look at the third picture it appears to be missing from the end.

10er, rough shape, but it has a flexible shaft, speed changer, and lots of other accessories, and a lot of documents including a first edition Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone.

Which is why I found it interesting. Also the use of the center hole for a power cord entry.

A SS miter gauge would be a nice addition! A good deal none the less.
