sometimes I do flatwork

My wife asked me to build a small credenza to fit under a low window sill in the TV room. A $30.00 cabinet with a $150.00
top.

That turned out real nice, Bill. And looks great in place.

But I've gotta ask -- what is the top made of, that cost $150? Just eyeballing your pics, it looks like maybe 6-8 BF of lumber.

That was more of a sarcastic remark for my wife. The cabinet is made from finger jointed pine and my wife painted it. So real cheap stuff by today's standards. The top is 1 X 12 maple that has been following me around for about 30 years. The board was originally 12' long and it was a really exceptionally clear piece. I don't know what that board would cost today but I remember paying $12 for it

12 dollars in todays market wouldn't buy 1/2 of that board around here lol

I bought 100 bdft of cherry and 100 bdft of black walnut several years ago for .75 a bdft for a rainy day project . hate to think about what it wold cost now , by the way nice job on the credenza
