I'm sticking this down here in the Community area since there are so few of us that has this tool but who knows someone might just up and decide to take a closer look after seeing some of the things they can do with a SO.

I also though I would show my mft extension table in action, this time it is holding my vertical workstation that let's you do things with the SO on the ends/edges of work pieces.

Today I was playing with mounting barrel hinges in the ends of two pieces of wood to have a folding sign. The SO did really well but the end product didn't look as good as I hoped. And to get it to fold how I wanted required the holes to be up near the surface where the lettering was going to be engraved, actually interfering so while the project was a bust it was only a prototype and no expensive wood was harmed.

The new software release for the SO added two extensions, one for on tool box joints and the other on tool text. When I finished my other play I went on to try the text. I know nothing special here but I may start adding a signature line with my name and the date the item was made or made for in the case of say a birthday.

I could have tried the box joints but I would have to have prepared the sides and wasted time and wood without a real project in mind. Besides I must have 50 ways of making box joints already. Maybe later this year??

There is also a pen holder showing up on the far right, all made from the same wood Padauk, not show is a pen also from the same wood.

This time I added a "signature" to the bottom:

The large letters are just a common 1/4" MLCS spiral bit. The smaller letters are bits from amazon :

Another day another sign. This one has two finish coats and wait to see if needs a third before I put the inset in. The insert will be a one shot deal as it is a nice snug fit so I have to get it right or else.....

Her middle name is Rose so the reason should be clear as to why the rose insert. This was my first attempt at creating some line art to use with the shaper and while not perfect it is a starting place for a more artistic look.

Will get a picture when it is all together.

Only five more to go.
