New to the forum and shopsmith.
So just bought a mark v yesterday. It was listed as a 510 but seems to have the upgraded table system. It came with the dust collector, a power station, belt sander, jointer, compressor, and band saw. With some various items I'm still trying to figure out. I have attached a picture of the serial number and model number so I can possible decipher the age. Paid 1700 for everything.

Re: New to the forum and shopsmith.
Welcome! Sounds like you found a very good deal. The serial number for your model is actually the date of manufacture, so 01-03-92, if I read the day correctly. This explains some of the serial number history:

Pictures are always appreciated, as are any questions as you explore your new tool.

Re: New to the forum and shopsmith.
Welcome,
Model 510's are commonly upgraded to a Model 520. The round tubes for the fence are replaced by extruded aluminum rails and a wider fence. The tables themselves are the same. One of the nice features of the Mark V is that it has always been upgradable to the newest features even back to the very first Mark 5 made in 1954. A Mark 5 "Greenie" made in 1954 can be upgraded to even the new Mark 7 although it would be cheaper to by a new Mark 7 than to buy new parts to upgrade an original Mark 5 from 1954.
The main difference between the original table system of the 500 model, the 510/505 and the 520 are in the table and fence systems. Even the 500 table and fence has had upgrades made for it. A new fence and wider extension table have come out for it. Of note the original 500 and the 510/505 table systems are no longer available on new Shopsmith Mark V's. Only the Mark V 520 and Mark 7 remains for sale new from the factory as they are the most popular models.
If you add more picture of your Shopsmith we can confirm for you if it has indeed been upgraded.

Re: New to the forum and shopsmith.
It has definitely been upgraded with 520 rails and rip fence, including the direct read magnetic strips. The miter gauge also looks to be the upgraded Incra model or other aftermarket version. These are nice upgrades, you may find that you have some other desirable odds and ends among those various items you're trying to figure out. If you post pictures of those, I'm sure the members here will fill you in.

Thanks for the information.
Re: New to the forum and shopsmith.
Steve,
So the last pic you posted is the Shopsmith branded Kreg bandsaw fence with microadjuster. I have the exact same one. Here is a thread below that discusses a bit more about it and shows pics of it installed:

First photo is the Shopsmith miter gauge with an upgrade of the Incra v120. Here is a thread with a bit more detail for it:

Re: New to the forum and shopsmith.
You have a nice collection of extra items besides the standard parts that come with a Mark V. If you have any trouble identifying any of them or what they are for point them out. I recognize all the parts in the one picture except the item between the Tailstock and the Air Compressor. I cannot tell from the picture what it is.
Do you have the Manuals for the Mark V and the SPT's (Belt Sander, Jointer, etc.)? Having the Manuals will give not only operating instructions but maintenance and other valuable information. Most are available from Shopsmith but the Air Compressor Manual is not. The Band Saw Manual can be downloaded as a PDF from the Shopsmith online catalog found under Owner's Manuals. Below is the link.

I also recommend checking out the book Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone.

Welcome to the club of Shopsmith owners. You got a nice start of stuff to go with you Shopsmith. I’m jealous of the Kreg bandsaw fence with microadjuster.
