This weekends project, A chickadee house from the scrap ends of wood (western red cedar) left over from the recycle bin shed build.

Questionable whether it is of any use. There was a saying many years ago about things like this. It isn't fit to print here, but it has something to do with useless things and a boar pig.
You old timers probably know what I'm hinting at.

I've got some back yard projects underway. First is a base for my 55 gallon drum that collects rain water. I had it setting on a round fiber base but it is not working our and rather then replace it with the same thing I wanted to go this way.

I had gotten some 2 x 4's earlier but this batch was a lot more expensive. $5.98 each!!!

I then needed a garden storage solution for storing soil and the like. So this was built:

Then the cover for the drum which I hoped to just paint again is to far gone and needed to be replaced. This is the bottom side that is a nice tight fit to the drum.

The top needs a couple of holes, hole saw and 18V battery drills not a problem. A 2" and a 2-1/2" hole were done from inside until center bit come through then around to the top to finish the cut.

Now I have the drum to clean up and scrape and wire brush before painting, that is both inside and outside. Pump is looking a little ruff so same treatment for it.

Good news is that this might well be the last time I have to do this..... getting to that age you know. Should have gotten to this months ago so as you might guess it wasn't a fun project to look forward to, the painting thing that is, the wood working was fun.

Yes I made another one. Also l was running short on the dividers so I made 10 more to add to the few I had left. Mostly filled already but still have to find homes for what this displaced, but expected that.

Does this Ford part remind you of one end of a Shopsmith?

I think it is the design of that era, Very early space age and aerodynamic.
