Hi Dave,
According to Jacobs, the K32 key IS the proper key for a 3326A chuck. They do knot list a 3326 chuck without the "A". See: http://www.jacobschuck.com/images/products/Pro%20Keyed%20Updated%20(ENG)-1.pdf

The 3326 is the only Jacobs chuck with a four digit number; does anyone know if there is any significance in that?

Why do we believe that the 3326 is the same chuck as the one supplied by Shopsmith? There are no identifying numbers on either of mine.

My Shopsmith chuck has Jacobs 3326 stamped on it. It may be a pre-Mark V chuck.

Hi,

Looks like we have two posts on this going at the same time.

Since the chuck is numbered then it is most likely that the key you have is the wrong one... either the stamp on that or the package it came in was wrong. It happens.

Given the chuck number the key is the K32... so I'd do a take two on finding that key... made in the USA if you can.

I've already tried two "Jacobs" brand K32 Chuck keys. One purchased locally and one purchased from MSCDirect.com. Both listed a 3326 chuck as compatible. Both did not fit.

See the thread start. The K32 works now.

bucksaw,

I don't know what vintage it is, but I have one older SS chuck-key that has no chuck to go with it. I never use it (obviously) so if you can't find one then shoot me a PM, and you can have mine; hopefully it could work.

Hi,

Any way you could post a picture of the key and key with chuck??? I have a chuck and key that matches and I have posted the dimensions in the "other" post. If you could check them it might help identify the problem.

Just to further muddy the waters... my Jacobs chuck and key are original to my machine, a 1960 MK. V. The Chuck is a JACOBS MULTI-CRAFT CHUCK No. MC3326. 5/64" - 1/2" capacity. The key is a K32 and fits well. The main body of the chuck is smooth, not ribbed like the current model. Alec

Sounds like my chuck, but I sure can't get a K32 to work properly with the chuck. I'm wondering if Jacobs redesigned the K32 key in recent years.
