Four Way Tic-Tac-Toe

For those of you who are interested, here are a few instructions for making this game. I don't have any plans so this is basically from memory, (something I go through every time I make some.)
The Base:
- The base is a 7 1/8" square of 1 1/4" thick pine.
- Round over the top edges using a 1/4" or 3/8" router round over bit.
- Drill four rows of four 5/16" holes, 1/2" deep, centered 1 1/2" apart
- Apply your choice of finish to the base before inserting dowels.
Posts:
- Cut sixteen posts from 5/16" dowel, approximately 4 1/2" long
- Verify the actual length by putting four balls on a dowel and adding 1/2" for the depth of the hole and 1/4" for extra on top.
- Sand a slight round over on each end of each dowel.
- put a little glue in each hole and insert the posts.
- I usually do not finish the posts but they can be if desired.
Balls:
- The balls are 1" in diameter with a 3/8" hole drilled through.
- A total of 66 balls are required, 32 of each colour for the game and one extra of each to allow for loss.
- I usually leave one set natural in clour but finished with two coats of a paste vanish.
- The second set I usually stain either walnut, cherry or mohagany but either set can be any colour as long as they are different.
- To aid in drying and finishing, I put a 48" length of dowel at a sharp angle in my vice or workmate, and place each ball on it as it is coloured.
- Final finishing is two coats of clear gloss spray finish (both sets) while the balls are still on the long dowel.
