The Shopsmith Power Coupler is made of a specially formulated polymer designed to protect your headstock motor in the event of binding. Each end mates with splined metal hubs (sold separately) that attach to your headstock auxiliary spindles. The power coupler provides a strong and safe connection between your headstock and Shopsmith Special Purpose Tools.

    Hello! If the hubs are miss-aligned the coupler could get hot and melt, or if the SPT is jammed and stalled abruptly, the coupler can break. Theses are designed to be the weak link in the drive train, to break, so that other, more expensive and more difficult parts do not get damaged when accidents happen.
